Many people use cooling fans, especially AC cooling fans, which are widely used in everyday life. When ordinary consumers purchase AC cooling fans, few of them pay attention to the fan’s lifespan. Instead, they mainly focus on factors such as airflow volume, wind speed, noise level, current, voltage, and power. When selecting a cooling fan, users—while ensuring that the airflow meets their needs—generally hope for the longest possible lifespan. As a result, under equipment warranty requirements, one of the primary specifications sought is long service life. A longer service life can reduce users’ maintenance costs and decrease the frequency of fan replacements, thereby minimizing downtime and labor hours. So, what exactly determines the lifespan of an AC cooling fan? Below, Jian Ce Electronics, a cooling fan manufacturer, explains: The lifespan of a cooling fan is influenced by several key factors, including the type of bearing used, the operating temperature of the environment where the fan is used, and the balance of the fan blades. 1. The bearings used in cooling fans:
1.1 Uses double ball bearings, which are relatively high-end bearings with a long service life ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 hours.
1.2 Use oil-impregnated bearings, which have a service life of approximately 10,000 hours.
1.3 By using hydraulic bearings, which have a larger oil-storage capacity than oil-lubricated bearings, the service life is approximately 40,000 hours (under operation at normal ambient temperatures). Therefore, the selection of bearings plays a significant role in determining the lifespan of cooling fans.
2. Operating ambient temperature for cooling fans: The higher the surrounding ambient temperature during operation of a cooling fan, the more likely its lifespan will be shortened.
3. If the balance of the cooling fan blades is poor, it can cause the fan to vibrate. Prolonged vibration will increase noise levels, lead to loss of balance, and eventually may cause the fan to jam completely and stop rotating altogether. This is precisely why many users find that their cooling fans break down shortly after purchase—simply because they haven't paid attention to the issues mentioned above. JianCe Electronics encourages you: whether you’ve purchased an AC cooling fan or a DC cooling fan, be sure to keep these points in mind during use, so that your cooling fan can last much longer.
