  1. Bearing Selection: Generally speaking, the bearings used in cooling fans fall into two categories: one is ball bearings, collectively referred to as ball bearings; the other is oil-lubricated bearings, known as oil-bearing bearings. The key difference between the two is that ball bearings have a longer service life and produce less noise, but they are considerably more expensive. Oil-bearing bearings have a service life that’s about one-quarter shorter than ball bearings; after just over a year of use, they may start to generate some noise, but they are much cheaper.

 

  2. Choose based on appearance: From the outside, the overall structure should be thicker, made of high-quality material, with a pure and vibrant color, and free of burrs along the edges of the frame and blades. Pay attention to the thickness of the fan blades—blades that are too thin are prone to breaking, and when you gently pinch the outer frame with your hand, it shouldn’t deform significantly.

  3. Listen to the sound of the fan. At excessively high speeds, you might hear electromagnetic noise. If there are other unusual sounds, the fan’s quality isn’t very good. If a DC fan doesn’t spin at a very high speed—for example, a 7-centimeter fan that spins no faster than 3,500 RPM—a large volume of airflow during testing generally indicates average fan quality.

  4. Check the specifications on the outer packaging: The following two parameters provide reference voltages: 5V, 12V, 24V, and 48V. The operating current is typically less than 250 milliamps; the higher the rotational speed, the lower the operating current, which helps save energy.

Advantages and Applications of Oil-Bearing DC Fans

The pivot joint is fixed at the position of the motor stator base, ensuring an appropriate gap between the rotor and the stator. Of course, there must also be a clearance between the shaft core and the bearings to prevent the shaft core from becoming locked and thus unable to function. The stator structure of the motor—hereafter referred to as the "stator"—is designed in such a way that, once power is supplied, an induced magnetic field will be generated between the rotor and the stator. The control circuit then drives the electric fan motor into operation. Therefore, in the conventional fan motor design, as long as the fan rotor, the motor stator, and the drive circuit work together via the pivot joint between the shaft core and the bearings and through magnetic field induction, the motor can operate effectively.
