As summer approaches, I’m sure many of you are about to bring out your trusty electric fans! Have you ever noticed that fan blades typically come in an odd number—seven blades, to be exact? Why aren’t they even-numbered? Let’s find out together with me below!

Motor Cooling fan It is generally not used alone and is intended for use with a radiator. It consists of a motor, bearings, blades, a housing (including mounting holes), a power plug, and wires.

This is mainly because, in order to maintain the operational balance of the cooling fan and minimize the impact of resonance, a single-blade design is the optimal choice. Moreover, it’s extremely difficult to achieve symmetrical balance for dual-blade designs within the mold. Therefore, for cooling fans, having blades in pairs is actually not advantageous.

The motor is the core component of the cooling fan and typically consists of a stator and a rotor.

When selecting a cooling fan, we often compare static pressure and airflow. Under normal ventilation conditions, the air pressure and airflow must overcome the resistance encountered during the cooling fan’s ventilation stroke. The cooling fan must generate sufficient pressure to counteract the supply-air resistance—the air pressure itself.

Wind pressure is an important metric for evaluating the performance of cooling fans. Wind pressure primarily depends on the shape, area, height, and rotational speed of the fan blades. The faster the rotational speed, the larger the fan blades tend to be. The greater the wind pressure, the better a heat sink with a ducted airflow design can maintain that wind pressure.

The above is the reason why cooling fan blades are typically odd-numbered rather than even-numbered. For more details and information, please contact us!

Advantages and Applications of Oil-Bearing DC Fans

The pivot joint is fixed at the position of the motor stator base, ensuring an appropriate gap between the rotor and the stator. Of course, there must also be a clearance between the shaft core and the bearings to prevent the shaft core from becoming locked and thus unable to function. The stator structure of the motor—hereafter referred to as the "stator"—is designed in such a way that, once power is supplied, an induced magnetic field will be generated between the rotor and the stator. The control circuit then drives the electric fan motor into operation. Therefore, in the conventional fan motor design, as long as the fan rotor, the motor stator, and the drive circuit work together via the pivot joint between the shaft core and the bearings and through magnetic field induction, the motor can operate effectively.
