First: Turbofans can deliver greater airflow while occupying a smaller space, thereby enhancing cooling performance.
Second, the machining precision of turbofan blades is higher than that required for ordinary cooling fans, and they also generate more noise when dust accumulates on the impeller or during high-speed operation.
Third: As CPU power consumption declines, CPU turbo fans are gradually being replaced by large-diameter, low-speed, conventional axial-flow silent fans. However, these high-performance graphics cards—especially reference-design graphics card coolers—still frequently rely on turbo fans.

Fourth: A turbofan is driven by a motor that rotates an impeller. The blades within the impeller force the gas to rotate, doing work on the gas and increasing its momentum. Under the influence of centrifugal force, the gas is flung outward toward the periphery of the impeller. As the gas flows through the volute casing, its kinetic energy is converted into pressure energy. Once the gas inside the impeller is exhausted, the pressure inside the impeller drops below the pressure in the inlet duct. Under the action of this pressure difference, fresh gas is drawn into the impeller, allowing the gas to be continuously discharged from the fan.
