The circuit principles generally come in various forms; depending on the circuit used, the fan’s functionality will differ.
Cooling fans, known in English as “Cooling fans,” have reached a stage of complete maturity in terms of both technology and functionality, yet new technologies continue to emerge. Fan standard sizes range from 8 mm to 280 mm, with voltages available in 5V, 12V, 24V, 48V, 110V, 220V, and 380V. Fan shapes include square, round, olive-shaped, and others.
1. Fans can be classified into several types based on the materials used, such as iron-cased fans (common fans), fiberglass fans, plastic fans, aluminum fans, stainless steel fans, and so on.
2. Fans can be classified according to the direction of gas flow into types such as centrifugal, axial-flow, diagonal-flow (mixed-flow), and cross-flow fans.
(1) Centrifugal fans. After the airflow enters the impeller of the fan axially, it initially flows radially outward. These fans are designed based on the principle of centrifugal force. The products include centrifugal ventilators, centrifugal blowers, and centrifugal compressors.
(2) Axial-flow fans. In these fans, the airflow enters the impeller axially and flows approximately along the axis on a cylindrical surface. Such fans include axial-flow fans, axial-flow blowers, and axial-flow compressors.
(3) Rotary blowers. These operate by using rotor rotation to change the volume of the air chamber. Common types include Roots blowers and rotary compressors.
3. Based on the direction of airflow after it enters the impeller, fans are classified into axial-flow fans, centrifugal fans, and mixed-flow (diagonal-flow) fans.
4. Fans are classified according to their application into forced-draft partial fans (hereinafter referred to as “forced-draft fans”) and induced-draft partial fans in which the explosion-proof motor is located either outside or inside the flow passage, with the explosion-proof motor housed in an explosion-proof sealed chamber (hereinafter referred to as “induced-draft fans”).
5. According to the pressurization method, fans can be classified as single-stage, two-stage, or multi-stage compressors. For example, the 4-72 is a single-stage compressor, while high-end fans are multi-stage compressors.
6. According to their intended use, fans can be categorized into axial-flow fans, mixed-flow fans, roof-mounted fans, air-conditioning fans, and more.
7. According to pressure, fans can be classified into low-pressure fans, medium-pressure fans, and high-pressure fans.
8. Classified by outlet pressure (pressure increase): ventilators (≤15,000 Pa), blowers (15,000–350,000 Pa), and compressors (≥350,000 Pa).
Fans are widely used for ventilation, dust removal, and cooling in factories, mines, tunnels, cooling towers, vehicles, ships, and buildings; for ventilation and draft induction in boilers and industrial furnaces; for cooling and ventilation in air-conditioning equipment and household appliances; for drying and conveying grains; as wind sources for wind tunnels and for inflating and propelling hovercrafts, among other applications.
