DC cooling fan The power supply is DC, while the AC cooling fan operates on AC. Unlike DC fans, which have a fixed power supply voltage and rely on circuit control to alternate the operation of two sets of coils and thus generate varying magnetic fields, AC fans have a fixed power-frequency source. Consequently, the rate at which magnetic poles change in the silicon steel laminations is determined by the power-frequency. The higher the frequency, the faster the magnetic field switches, and theoretically, the faster the fan speed will be—just as with DC fans, where a greater number of poles results in higher rotational speeds. However, the frequency cannot be too high either; if it’s too high, it will become difficult to activate the fan.
The primary application of both is the operating principle of DC cooling fans: the motor operates using permanently embedded magnets. The rotation is driven by the magnetic attraction and repulsion between the magnets and the rotor.
AC cooling fans are frequently used in equipment that requires stable and consistent airflow, such as household appliances, air conditioning systems, and industrial equipment. Among these, industrial equipment is most widely applied in distribution boards—as well as machine tools, industrial electric heating devices, and automatic control systems.
Advantages of DC cooling fans: 1. Extremely low electromagnetic interference—DC cooling fans generate minimal electromagnetic interference, allowing them to prevent overheating while also reducing EMI. 2. Low power consumption—generally 50% more energy-efficient than conventional cooling fans.

Advantages of AC cooling fans: They provide a stable and continuous airflow, effectively exhausting hot air while drawing in cooler air.

Drawbacks of DC cooling fans: 1. The airflow fluctuates and is uneven; the most significant drawback is that they cannot provide a steady, continuous airflow in a straight line. 2. They may require a transformer (rectifier).
- AC fans use alternating current, in which the direction of the current changes;
- A DC fan uses direct current and has only unidirectional current flow.
- Therefore, a DC fan must use a transformer (rectifier) to convert AC power into DC power in order for the fan to operate.

Advantages and Applications of Oil-Bearing DC Fans

The pivot joint is fixed at the position of the motor stator base, ensuring an appropriate gap between the rotor and the stator. Of course, there must also be a clearance between the shaft core and the bearings to prevent the shaft core from becoming locked and thus unable to function. The stator structure of the motor—hereafter referred to as the "stator"—is designed in such a way that, once power is supplied, an induced magnetic field will be generated between the rotor and the stator. The control circuit then drives the electric fan motor into operation. Therefore, in the conventional fan motor design, as long as the fan rotor, the motor stator, and the drive circuit work together via the pivot joint between the shaft core and the bearings and through magnetic field induction, the motor can operate effectively.
