The DC cooling fan has two power wires—one positive and one negative. When installing the cooling fan, if the positive and negative wires are connected in reverse, could this cause the cooling fan to catch fire? Perhaps this issue is primarily related to the integrated circuit design used by the cooling fan manufacturer. Typically, dual-wire winding drive integrated circuits, due to their internal protection mechanisms, will short-circuit if the positive and negative power wires are connected in reverse. At this point, the current drawn by the cooling fan will be significantly higher than normal. And when the motor current becomes excessively high, the motor itself will heat up dramatically. Once the temperature reaches a certain level, the drive integrated circuit will be damaged from overheating, and as a result, the cooling fan itself will be destroyed.
A portion of the single-winding drive integrated circuit lacks internal polarity protection. If the motor stator printed circuit board is not designed with polarity protection, the integrated circuit could immediately burn out.
To prevent the fan from burning out due to incorrect polarity connection, it’s best to add a diode to the fan’s printed circuit board as part of the polarity protection design. In this way, if the fan is connected in reverse while powered on, the current will be zero, indicating that no electricity is flowing. Never let the machine burn out.

Of course, there must also be a clearance between the shaft core and the bearings to prevent the shaft core from becoming locked and thus unable to function. The stator structure of the motor—hereafter referred to as the "stator"—is designed in such a way that, once power is supplied, an induced magnetic field will be generated between the rotor and the stator. The control circuit then drives the electric fan motor into operation.
