1. What are the main factors associated with noise generation?
The noise of a miniature fan is related to friction, air flow, and rotational speed. The higher the rotational speed and the greater the airflow, the louder the noise will be. Additionally, the inherent vibration of the miniature fan itself is also an important factor that cannot be overlooked. Of course, high-quality miniature fans have very little inherent vibration. However, the first two are difficult to overcome.
 
2. How do you measure the noise of a miniature cooling fan?
Noise refers to the level of extraneous sound generated when a micro-fan is operating. It is influenced by various factors and is measured in decibels (dB). When measuring the noise of a micro-fan, the test must be conducted in an anechoic chamber with background noise below 17 dB, at a distance of one meter from the fan and along the axis of the micro-fan’s rotation.
 
The direction should be aligned with the fan’s air inlet, and measurements should be taken using A-weighting. The spectral characteristics of micro-fan noise are also crucial; therefore, it is necessary to use a spectrum analyzer to record the frequency distribution of the micro-fan’s noise. 3. How can we reduce the noise of small fans?
To solve this problem, we can try using a larger-sized fan. Under the same airflow conditions, a large fan operating at a lower rotational speed will produce less operational noise than a small fan operating at a higher rotational speed. Since the rotor shaft and bearing rub against each other when the miniature fan spins at high speed, this friction is a major source of noise in miniature fans.

The pivot joint is fixed at the position of the motor stator base, ensuring an appropriate gap between the rotor and the stator.
