When purchasing cooling fans, some users may ask the seller whether they are directly from the manufacturer, as the market also offers refurbished cooling fans—while fans sold by manufacturers themselves are never refurbished. Refurbished cooling fans don't perform as well as brand-new ones. So how can you tell whether a cooling fan is refurbished? The following sections will provide a detailed explanation.
How to determine whether a cooling fan is refurbished:
Judging from the trademark: The trademarks on genuine cooling fans are meticulously printed, with even color distribution, clear and glossy lettering that has a raised texture. In contrast, the trademarks on refurbished fans—being non-genuine—are of poor printing quality; often the background color varies in shade, the lettering lacks any raised texture, and a light scratch with your fingernail will easily remove the color from the surface. By contrast, scratching the original manufacturer’s trademark with your fingernail won’t cause any damage at all.
Judging from the fan blades: The blades of a genuine cooling fan have a matte finish. When held up to the light, you can see fine, evenly distributed particles; when touched by hand, they feel rough. In contrast, refurbished fans—due to prolonged friction with air—have lost these surface particles, leaving their blades smooth and glossy, with visible marks from rubbing and wear.
Finally, there are the mounting holes: Since refurbished fans have all been used before, traces will always remain on the mounting holes. If self-tapping screws were used, you’ll find screw threads left inside the holes; if screws with nuts were used for fastening, you’ll see indentation marks from the nuts around the holes.

The pivot joint is fixed at the position of the motor stator base, ensuring an appropriate gap between the rotor and the stator. Of course, there must also be a clearance between the shaft core and the bearings to prevent the shaft core from becoming locked and thus unable to function.
