I wonder if anyone has ever had this feeling when using a fan: it seems like there’s “water” being flung out from inside the fan—but actually, it’s not oil from the fan!
DC brushless fan The structures include: oil-containing structure, hydraulic structure, ceramic structure, and ball-bearing structure (which is further divided into single-ball and double-ball structures). These are the most commonly used structures.
Today’s topic is fans with oil-containing structures.
As we all know, oil refers to the lubricants we commonly use. However, there are different grades of oil—high-, mid-, and low-grade. Low-grade oil is relatively thin; when you pour it out, it may even resemble water, though it has a slightly yellowish tint and tends to evaporate easily. High-grade oil, on the other hand, has better viscosity and is much less likely to evaporate in air, thus extending its lifespan.
The amount of lubricant added to a fan is directly related to its quality. If too much oil is added, the fan might fling oil outward during operation. On the other hand, if there’s insufficient oil, the fan’s lifespan won’t reach 20,000 hours.
Oil slinging is divided into two types: one is oil slinging at the cooling fan blade, and the other is oil slinging at the cooling fan label.
The first type of oil slippage is mainly caused by having too much oil, or by the oil being too thin.
The second type of oil leakage is mainly caused by insufficient sealing of the adhesive on the oil seal cover—specifically, too little adhesive was used. The label itself is sticky; when you peel it off, the oil seal cover gets pulled along with it. If you’re not careful and reattach the label without noticing this, there’s a risk of oil leakage occurring again.

Advantages and Applications of Oil-Bearing DC Fans

The pivot joint is fixed at the position of the motor stator base, ensuring an appropriate gap between the rotor and the stator. Of course, there must also be a clearance between the shaft core and the bearings to prevent the shaft core from becoming locked and thus unable to function. The stator structure of the motor—hereafter referred to as the "stator"—is designed in such a way that, once power is supplied, an induced magnetic field will be generated between the rotor and the stator. The control circuit then drives the electric fan motor into operation. Therefore, in the conventional fan motor design, as long as the fan rotor, the motor stator, and the drive circuit work together via the pivot joint between the shaft core and the bearings and through magnetic field induction, the motor can operate effectively.
