DC fan manufacturer Let me inform you that the specifications for the drop-test of cooling fans are based on the fan’s size and dimensions. The drop height varies from 30 to 50 cm. The test procedure involves dropping the fan onto a wooden board that is 10 cm thick from three different sides; if the fan remains undamaged after the drop, it passes the test. For certain products, the requirements for the drop test are even stricter—for example, when the cooling fan is installed inside the product, it must be dropped from a height of 100 cm without sustaining any damage.
In particular, some products are heavy and hit the ground at a faster speed. Moreover, certain products are not square but conical in shape; thus, when they land, the pointed end strikes first, concentrating all the impact force at a single point, which makes the cooling fan more prone to damage. For such products with high landing requirements, it is advisable not to use the commonly employed PBT material for the cooling fan. Instead, we recommend using higher-quality materials—such as PC or PPS—that offer superior toughness.

Field tests provide greater assurance. DC fans belong to the motor family—they are high-speed rotating electronic devices. During operation, they may exhibit various abnormal phenomena, such as failure to spin, unusual noises (commonly referred to as "noise"), or slow rotation. Among these issues, noise is the most common and also the most controversial problem with DC fans. What’s the reason behind this?
When selecting a DC fan, the bearing is crucial. Among them, DC fans with oil-lubricated bearings tend to generate noise most easily. These bearings are low in cost and have relatively low precision; their quiet operation relies primarily on the lubricating effect of the grease. However, when exposed to high temperatures, dust, or other contaminants that interfere with the grease, the DC fan gradually starts producing unusual noises.
Some manufacturers use outdated or secondhand ball bearings. As time goes by, the lifespan of these previously used ball bearings—which were already at their limit—will naturally start to show signs of noise after a period of operation. The manufacturing process of DC fans can also contribute to noise generation: for instance, whether oil-lubricated fans are designed with floating bearings; whether the fan blades and shaft core are thoroughly cleaned during assembly; whether the ball bearings have been squeezed or deformed; and whether sweat has come into contact with the ball bearings, causing rust—all these factors can lead to noise in DC fans.
