Therefore, to minimize noise, the system impedance must be reduced to the lowest possible level.
2. Gas flow disturbance
Turbulence caused by obstructions encountered along the gas flow path can generate noise. Therefore, any obstructions—especially in the critical regions of the air inlet and outlet—must be avoided to minimize noise.
3. Fan Speed and External Dimensions
Since high-speed fans generate more noise than low-speed fans, you should, whenever possible, try to use and select low-speed fans. Generally speaking, a fan with larger external dimensions and lower rotational speed is quieter than a fan with smaller external dimensions and higher rotational speed when both are delivering the same airflow volume.
4. Temperature increases
Within a system, the airflow required for heat dissipation is inversely proportional to the allowable temperature rise. A slight increase in the allowable temperature rise can significantly reduce the required airflow. Therefore, if the restriction on the allowable temperature rise—imposed by external factors—is slightly relaxed, the required airflow will decrease, and noise levels will also be reduced.
5. Vibration
In certain situations—particularly when the entire system is lightweight or the system must operate according to specific regulations—it is especially recommended to use soft isolation materials to prevent the transmission of fan vibrations.
6. Voltage fluctuation
Voltage fluctuations can affect the noise level. The higher the voltage applied to the fan, the faster it spins, resulting in greater vibration and, consequently, louder noise.
7. Considerations for Design Conceptualization
The design concept of each component that makes up a fan can affect its noise level. The following design considerations can help reduce noise: the dimensions of the wound iron core, the design of the fan blades and the outer frame, as well as precise manufacturing and balancing.
