DC fan The interaction between the blade and the fan?
The fan housing and blades are an integral, inseparable assembly. What are the interactions between them?
1. Blade Curvature: Within a certain range, the greater the blade curvature, the greater the kinetic energy of the gas at the same rotational speed—resulting in higher airflow and higher wind pressure. Moreover, the greater the blade curvature, the greater the drag force acting on the blade, which in turn requires a higher torque from the motor.
2. Motor Diameter: Due to the presence of the motor and bearings, the central portion of the axial-flow fan’s main shaft inevitably contains a blind zone where no airflow passes through. The diameter of the main shaft thus determines the size of this blind zone. The size of the main shaft diameter primarily depends on the power rating of the fan motor—higher-power motors require larger stator winding coils, which naturally occupy more space. In situations where vertical expansion (increasing height) is not feasible, the only option left is horizontal expansion (increasing area).
3. Blade Curvature: In addition to having a certain degree of curvature in their cross-section, the fan blades do not extend straight radially when viewed from above; instead, they curve slightly toward the direction of rotation, forming a distinct arc. If the blades were to extend straight radially, the airflow generated by the rotating cooling fan would scatter at the air outlet, resulting in a short air delivery distance and a lack of concentrated “force.” However, by incorporating a slight arc into the current product design, the airflow can be effectively focused within a column-shaped space directly in front of the air outlet, thereby increasing both the air delivery distance and the air pressure.
4. Blade Spacing: If the distance between blades is too small, it can cause airflow disturbances, increase friction on the blade surfaces, and reduce fan efficiency. Conversely, if the distance between blades is too large, it will lead to increased pressure loss and insufficient air pressure.
