  With the development of the fan industry, the variety of fans has been increasing. The blower is one of the most common types. It can save electricity and offers advantages such as reduced energy consumption and lower production costs, making it increasingly popular among users. In addition to providing the most basic ventilation and air exchange effect, blowers outperform other types of fans in many aspects. So, how exactly do blowers work?

  Ordinary hair dryers operate on the following principles:

  1. Operating principle of a rotary hair dryer:

  The rotary blower features a compact structure and typically consists of six main components: the motor, air converter, blower housing, air chamber, base (which also serves as an oil reservoir), and oil drip nozzle. The blower operates by means of an eccentrically mounted rotor positioned within the cylinder. As the rotor rotates eccentrically, the volume between the four blades in the rotor slots changes, drawing in, compressing, and discharging air. During operation, the blower automatically supplies lubrication to the oil drip nozzle via a pressure differential, which then drips into the cylinder to reduce friction and noise, while also preventing backflow of gas within the cylinder.

  2. Working principle of centrifugal blowers:

  A blower typically features a high-speed rotating rotor. The high-velocity movement of air is driven by blades mounted on the impeller. Centrifugal force causes the air to flow along an involute-shaped casing, eventually exiting the blower with a certain degree of pressure. Fresh air is introduced through the center of the casing. In fact, the operating principle of a centrifugal blower is similar to that of a centrifugal ventilator; the key difference lies in the compression achieved under the action of centrifugal force, which is usually accomplished via several working impellers.

  Adjustments to the fan can be made by modifying either the fan’s own performance curve or the characteristics of the external piping network. During operation, the fan’s working condition is influenced not only by its own performance but also by the system characteristics. When the resistance in the piping network increases, the pipeline performance curve becomes steeper.

  3. Working principle of Roots blowers:

  Roots blowers are constant-volume blowers; the volume of air they deliver is proportional to their rotational speed. Compared with two-lobe impellers, three-lobe impellers perform three suction cycles per rotation, resulting in reduced gas pulsation, smaller load fluctuations, higher mechanical strength, lower noise levels, and less vibration.

  Each impeller is kept in the correct phase by synchronous gears, which prevent contact and enable high-speed operation. Moreover, the design is simple, requiring no internal lubrication, ensuring smooth operation, stable performance, and a wide range of applications.

  Having gone through the introduction above, I’m sure you now have a deeper understanding of how blowers work. Precisely because of these advantages, blowers are being used by an increasing number of users and can be widely applied in various industries, including chemical engineering, food processing, building materials, mining, textiles, pneumatic conveying, and wastewater treatment.

Advantages and Applications of Oil-Bearing DC Fans

The pivot joint is fixed at the position of the motor stator base, ensuring an appropriate gap between the rotor and the stator. Of course, there must also be a clearance between the shaft core and the bearings to prevent the shaft core from becoming locked and thus unable to function. The stator structure of the motor—hereafter referred to as the "stator"—is designed in such a way that, once power is supplied, an induced magnetic field will be generated between the rotor and the stator. The control circuit then drives the electric fan motor into operation. Therefore, in the conventional fan motor design, as long as the fan rotor, the motor stator, and the drive circuit work together via the pivot joint between the shaft core and the bearings and through magnetic field induction, the motor can operate effectively.
