DC cooling fans come with numerous power connectors. It’s crucial to fully understand the functions of these connectors and to design and connect them appropriately so that their full potential can be realized. Today, our editor would like to share with you the topic: “How are the various colorful wires of a DC cooling fan connected?” Below is detailed information, including the connection for temperature-sensing signals. Typically, temperature signals are sampled using thermistors as temperature sensors. Taking a cooling fan as an example, changes in temperature cause corresponding changes in the thermistor’s resistance; therefore, the input signal is non-polarized.

Simply place the thermistor between the CPU and the heatsink, then remove the jumper from the yellow power cable on the cooling fan. Next, connect the yellow power cable of the DC cooling fan to the temperature-sensing power cable—this completes the connection.

1. Connecting the speed controller’s power cable. The manual speed controller is essentially a variable resistor: when its resistance is set to a lower value (or when a jumper wire is used to short-circuit it), the cooling fan runs at a lower speed; when the resistance is set to a higher value (or when the jumper wire is removed), the cooling fan operates at full speed. Two speed controllers are included as standard accessories with the cooling fan; you can select either one depending on the specific situation.

The DC cooling fan can be installed either in the 3.5” floppy drive bay on the front panel of the computer case or in the slot at the back of the system unit. Afterward, simply connect the power plug to the red socket on the DC cooling fan.

The pivot joint is fixed at the position of the motor stator base, ensuring an appropriate gap between the rotor and the stator. Of course, there must also be a clearance between the shaft core and the bearings to prevent the shaft core from becoming locked and thus unable to function. The stator structure of the motor—hereafter referred to as the "stator"—is designed in such a way that, once power is supplied, an induced magnetic field will be generated between the rotor and the stator. The control circuit then drives the electric fan motor into operation. Therefore, in the conventional fan motor design, as long as the fan rotor, the motor stator, and the drive circuit work together via the pivot joint between the shaft core and the bearings and through magnetic field induction, the motor can operate effectively.
