The role of the fan in an air-cooled heatsink is as follows: By virtue of its own airflow guidance, it ensures that air passes through the heat sink fins at a specific velocity and in a particular manner. This airflow facilitates heat exchange between the air and the fins, thereby carrying away the accumulated heat from the fins and achieving “forced convection” cooling.

Based on the type of power source used, they can be broadly categorized into two major types: AC and DC.
DC voltages of 5V, 12V, 24V, and 48V are relatively common; special voltages such as 4.5V, 10V, and 18V are also available. AC voltages typically include 220V and 110V, among others.
· By the method of switching the magnetic field from energized to de-energized: they can be divided into two types—brushed and brushless.
·Brushed motors have a short lifespan and can produce electric sparks.
· Brushless motors have a longer service life due to the absence of carbon brush wear, are easy to operate at high speeds, and produce no sparks. They have gradually replaced brushed motors.
In terms of application scope: its usage is extremely broad, covering applications such as power supply fans, chassis fans, CPU fans, VGA fans, refrigerator fans, automotive fans, and many others.
The fan consists of two main parts: the rotor and the stator.
·Rotor: Includes blades, hub, magnetic ring, outer frame of the magnetic ring, and oil ring.
·Stator: Includes the motor, outer frame, bearings, retaining rings, and more.
