Once the external specifications of a cooling fan are fixed, the key requirements for its performance are actually the airflow and static pressure—not the fan speed. Typically, people misunderstand this crucial point and start using cooling fans from manufacturer A at speeds as high as 2,400 RPM.

It’s completely incorrect to assume that Manufacturer B’s cooling fan spins at 2,400 RPM. For example, Manufacturer A’s 4028 cooling fan has a rotational speed of 8,000 RPM, a airflow rate of 30 cubic centimeters, an air pressure of 15 milliohms, a rated current of 0.16 amperes, and a noise level of 30 decibels. In contrast, Manufacturer B’s 4028 cooling fan spins at 7,500 RPM.
The airflow is 32 cubic centimeters, the air pressure is 15.6 milliwatts, the rated current is 0.14 amps, and the noise level is 30 decibels. From a numerical perspective, Manufacturer B’s specifications outperform those of Manufacturer A. Moreover, Manufacturer B’s 7,500 rpm fan can fully replace Manufacturer A’s 8,000 rpm cooling fan (assuming identical quality as discussed earlier). Therefore, when selecting a fan, we shouldn’t focus solely on the fan’s rotational speed; instead, we should pay attention to its airflow and air pressure.
